Pretty in Pink Lovelace

Well hello there. My name is Sometimes Heather, and I knit. I used to knit, and make knitting patterns, under the name Heather Wielding. As things often do in life, that turned sour, and things needed to change. For the longest while there, I thought I’d never design another knit. I thought I’d just make things for myself, and be done with it.

And then there was a sale.

So much delicious yarn

I didn’t know why at the time, but I needed these yarns. They’re all mercerized cotton, soft and silky and shiny, their colours so bright it’s difficult to keep one’s hands off them. I wear black, full stop, so this seemed like the strangest thing.

I stashed the yarns, wondering what to do with them. The blacks are turning into a crochet blanket cardigan, the comfiest wrap for the summer, but the rest… The rest slumbered, like yarn often does, refusing to indicate its will.

As the yarn slept, I applied for school and got accepted, studied, played Elder Scrolls Online and Alien: Isolation, and as I decided to want to design again, the yarn spoke.

These delicious yarns will become a collection of simple knits all designed with an element of fishnet. I see cardigans and gloves, a simple sweater, a halterneck, perhaps an orange dress. The yarns are loud now, and I can’t wait to cast on the first part of my collection.

Before that, I must finish schoolwork, and create a stable environment to continue my adventure in knit design.

This site will first serve as a blog for all things I’ve made, and for things I plan to make. I hope to write weekly, perhaps on Fridays. Someday, maybe soon, I wish to have a shop of my own, a small shop where I can offer designs created as Sometimes Heather, and also as Heather Wielding. Some of those designs were pretty good, and I’d hate to see them all go to waste.

Pretty in Pink Lovelace

I do hope you’ll stick around with everything changing around us.

Love,

Heather
